Press Info
Kathy Sheehan Kathy Sheehan, the fingerstyle guitarist for the band Kin’rede Spirits, first started her musical career studying classical guitar. She grew up in a family of musicians and especially loved the classical sounds of the guitar and piano. In the late eighties, she performed and recorded with Chantal Ratte, the lead singer of the Boston- based punk rock band Miss Understood. As a duo with Chantal, Kathy wrote and played lead, bass and rhythm guitar as well as sang backup vocals. Having left the music scene for more than two decades, Kathy has returned with a new and exciting sound. Rediscovering her classical roots, she has melded that genre with fingerstyle americana for a truly unique sound incorporating many alternate tunings. Today, she continues to compose and arrange for her band, Kin’rede Spirits. Some of Kathy’s influences are John Williams, Eric Clapton, John Fahey, Steve Howe and Greg Lake. Keith Sheehan As a late bloomer to the music scene, Keith Sheehan is the bass guitarist for the acoustic duo Kin’rede Spirits. Keith’s introduction into music came as a young child studying classical piano. Classical music would fall silent as the sounds of The Who, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd grew louder. For many years, Keith continued off and on with keyboards, occasionally playing with garage bands, friends and family. His musical ability lay dormant for many years until Keith met Kathy in the summer of 2008. That summer, a musical spark would be ignited and united. After many countless discussions regarding musical taste, style and ability, the idea was born to compose music together. Keith has always had a soft spot for bass guitar. As the ideas for this newfound duo were being collaborated, he wanted to express his passion through this instrument as part of Kin’rede Spirits. The problem was that Keith was not a bassist. At 47, Keith began his journey studying bass guitar. Today, he challenges himself to develop interesting melodic bass riffs to compliment Kathy’s intricate playing style. Some of Keith’s influences are John Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney and Roger Waters. Please feel free to download and share an event poster with your |
